We already know that winter can pose challenges for battery-electric vehicles (EVs). Lower temperatures can affect the performance of the high-voltage battery, resulting in reduced range. Additionally, snow, ice, and freezing rain can make it difficult to open the doors of a Tesla. However, the manufacturer has come up with a solution, and seasoned owners have their own ideas as well.

One of the advantages of EVs is the ability to receive over-the-air (OTA) upgrades. Tesla, in particular, recognized the importance of software in their vehicles early on, using it to enhance the customer experience. Along with games and entertainment options, Tesla implemented features to help owners in unfavorable weather conditions. For example, the "Defrost Car" function can thaw a frozen charge port latch, while also melting snow and ice on the windshield, windows, and mirrors.
