Less than two months after the initial announcement, Chancellor Rishi Sunak has reversed the government's decision to ban petrol- and diesel-powered new cars by 2030. The new deadline has been extended to 2035, bringing the UK in line with Europe's plans to mandate zero tailpipe emissions for new vehicles by the same year.
