5 million Wrangler sales

Jeep, the US brand, has reached a significant milestone by selling its five millionth Wrangler model. The Rubicon 4xe 20th Anniversary Edition was sold to a customer in New Jersey, who not only received the special edition vehicle but also $5000 worth of Jeep Performance Parts by Mopar and a lifetime of Jeep Wave customer benefits.

This announcement coincided with the launch of the MY24 Wrangler model range, which will be available in markets worldwide, including Australia. The Wrangler has been a highly recognizable off-road vehicle since its debut at the 1986 Chicago Auto Show. It replaced the CJ-series and continued the legacy of the original 1941 Willys MB.

The first Wrangler, known as the YJ-series, went into production 37 years ago at the American Motors Corporation factory. Between 1987 and 1995, a total of 630,000 units were sold. The early Wranglers were two-door models with a choice of 2.5-liter four-cylinder or 4.0-liter six-cylinder petrol engines.

Subsequent generations of the Wrangler included the TJ-series in 1996, the JK-series in 2006, and the JL-series in 2017. According to Jeep, each iteration improved upon the previous one, offering a combination of off-road capability and authentic Jeep design.

Jeep's latest Wrangler, the MY24 model, promises even more capability, technology, and refinement. While specific details for the Australian market are yet to be announced, the facelifted version is expected to arrive in the country later in 2023.

The 2024 Jeep Wrangler will be available in North American dealerships this quarter. Jim Morrison, Jeep North America's senior vice president, expressed his excitement about the milestone, stating that the Wrangler embodies the spirit and soul of the Jeep brand. He also highlighted that over 80% of the five million Wranglers sold since 1986 are still on the road, demonstrating the vehicle's enduring popularity and capability.

Morrison further emphasized that the new 2024 Wrangler raises the bar in terms of capability, technology, safety features, and refinement, solidifying its position as the most capable Wrangler yet.
