【Summary】Adam Driver is almost unrecognizable in the trailer for the film Ferrari, where he plays Italian sports car entrepreneur Enzo Ferrari. The film, directed by Michael Mann, also stars Penelope Cruz, Shailene Woodley, and Patrick Dempsey. The trailer showcases Driver's transformation as he portrays the older Ferrari, and offers glimpses of racing scenes and domestic moments. The film is set in 1957 and focuses on the lead-up to the Mille Miglia race.
Adam Driver is set to star as Italian sports car entrepreneur Enzo Ferrari in Michael Mann's upcoming film Ferrari. The movie, directed by the acclaimed filmmaker known for Heat and The Last of the Mohicans, features a stellar cast including Penelope Cruz as Ferrari's wife Laura, Shailene Woodley as his mistress Lina Lardi, and Patrick Dempsey as driver Piero Taruffi.
In the trailer, Driver is seen transformed into the older Ferrari, sporting a grey wig and receding hairline, along with black sunglasses and sharp grey suits. Fans have expressed excitement over Driver's portrayal of the iconic character, with some jokingly commenting on the play on words with his surname.
The film's story is set in 1957 and revolves around Ferrari's life and the infamous Mille Miglia race. The trailer features scenes of Ferrari observing vintage-style sports cars on the track, as well as domestic moments between Driver and Cruz, and Driver and Woodley. It also showcases Ferrari himself behind the wheel, speeding through Rome.
The movie, which premieres at the Venice Film Festival, received an interim agreement for publicity from Sag-Aftra, allowing Driver to attend the event and promote the film. This is significant as the current US actors' union strike prohibits promotional activities by its members. However, certain films have been granted permission to involve actors in limited parts of their publicity.
Ferrari is being distributed by Neon, an indie company, and will hit UK cinemas on December 26 before arriving on Sky Cinema in 2024. It remains uncertain if any of Driver's co-stars will join him on the red carpet for the premiere.
