Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale supercar debuts with hybrid performance

Alfa Romeo has unveiled a limited-edition, custom-built supercar called the 33 Stradale, which is a modern reboot of the iconic 1967 model. The original 33 Stradale was the road-going version of the Tipo 33 race car and is considered one of Alfa Romeo's most legendary cars. The new 33 Stradale will be available with either a twin-turbo V6 petrol engine or as a fully electric vehicle. Only 33 examples of the car will be produced, and they have already been sold out.

The new 33 Stradale will be built to each customer's specifications by Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera, a boutique Italian 'coachbuilding' company. The estimated price for the car is over £1.7 million ($AU3.3 million). It is unclear if any right-hand drive models will be manufactured or if any Australian customers have purchased the car.

Alfa Romeo plans to release more custom-built cars, but they may be electric, as the 33 Stradale is expected to be one of the company's last internal combustion-engined vehicles. The design of the new 33 Stradale is intended to evoke the original, with sleek proportions and 'butterfly' doors. The front fascia is inspired by the 1960s version, and the car's aerodynamic details are carefully designed to produce enough downforce without the need for active aerodynamics.

The interior of the 33 Stradale features a minimalist design with few controls. There are aluminum shift paddles, a steering wheel without buttons, and aviation-inspired mechanical switches. The car also includes necessary screens for functions such as the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. The seats are inspired by the original 33 Stradale and offer six-way power adjustment and four lumbar positions.

The chassis of the 33 Stradale is made from aluminum and carbon fiber, and it is speculated to be based on the Maserati MC20. The petrol version of the car is equipped with an enlarged 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, while the electric version features three electric motors. The petrol version can accelerate from 0-100km/h in under three seconds and has a top speed of 333km/h.

The suspension of the 33 Stradale is adaptive and can be switched between road and track modes. The car also features carbon-fiber elements to save weight and a front-axle lift system to clear speed bumps. The braking capabilities of the petrol version are impressive, with the ability to go from 100km/h to zero in just 33 meters.

The 33 Stradale has already sold out, with all 33 examples being purchased within a few weeks of being shown to potential customers. Each car will be customized according to the customer's preferences and will have a unique vehicle identification number (VIN). The VIN will be engraved in the central tunnel and rear of the car.
