August 2023 Kia global sales report
【Summary】Kia Corporation announced that its global sales in August 2023 reached 255,481 units, a 5.2% increase compared to the previous year. Sales outside of Korea saw a 5.8% increase, with the Sportage SUV leading the way. In the Korean market, Kia recorded a 2.4% increase in sales, with the Sorento SUV being the top-selling model. Kia plans to launch new models in the second half of 2023, including the Sorento SUV and EV9 electric flagship SUV.
Kia Corporation has reported a 5.2 percent increase in global sales for August 2023, with a total of 255,481 units sold compared to the same period last year. Excluding special purpose vehicles, sales outside of Korea were up 5.8 percent at 212,882 units.
In terms of specific models, Kia's SUV lineup performed well, with the Sportage leading the sales momentum by selling 41,376 units in August. The Seltos and Sorento SUV models followed closely behind, selling 31,647 and 21,498 units respectively.
Outside of Korea, the Sportage SUV continued to be the top-selling model with 36,166 units sold. It was followed by the Seltos SUV with 28,135 units and the K3 (known as Forte outside of Korea) with 17,702 units.
In the Korean market, Kia recorded 42,225 unit sales, showing a 2.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The Sorento SUV led the company's sales in its home market, with 7,176 units sold. The Sportage SUV and Carnival MPV followed with sales of 5,210 and 4,937 units respectively.
Looking ahead, Kia has plans to launch new models in the second half of 2023, including the Sorento SUV, K5 sedan, and Carnival MPV. Additionally, the company is set to introduce the EV9, its first three-row seat electric flagship SUV, in global markets, further strengthening its brand proposition.

Please note that these sales figures are based on wholesale and are unaudited and preliminary. Kia has also started recording special purpose vehicle sales separately, which includes various specialized vehicles sold in both Korea and overseas markets.
