Baojun Cloud EV debuts in China with a price below $14K

GM's joint venture, SGMW, has launched the Baojun Cloud electric hatchback in China. The vehicle is priced at 95,800 yuan ($13.2K) and is available in four versions.
SGMW is a joint venture between General Motors, SAIC, and Wuling Motors in China. The company sells vehicles under the Wuling and Baojun brand names.
In 2020, SGMW introduced the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, a microcar that quickly became popular in the market. It even outsold Tesla's Model 3 in the region.
Since then, SGMW has expanded its electric vehicle lineup with variations of the Mini EV, including a convertible version and the Wuling Air EV, which is also known as the MG Comet in India.
Building on the success of the Mini EV, SGMW has recently launched the Baojun Yep, which has been receiving a lot of attention in China's market.
Furthermore, SGMW introduced the Wuling Bingo, a sub-$10,000 electric vehicle, which achieved impressive sales numbers in its first month on the market.
GM's joint venture, SGMW, has officially listed the Baojun Yunduo (Cloud) electric hatchback in China. The vehicle is available in four versions and has a starting price of 95,800 yuan ($13.2K).
The Baojun Cloud is a compact EV that measures 4,295 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, and 1,652 mm tall. It is expected to compete with the BYD Dolphin and Volkswagen ID.3 in the market.
The Baojun Cloud offers two battery options, with cruising ranges of 360 km (223 mi) and 460 km (285 mi) respectively. It features an 8.8-inch full LCD instrument screen and either a 10.1-inch or 15.6-inch central control screen.
Volkswagen recently reduced prices for its ID.3 electric car in China to stay competitive in the market. This move has resulted in a significant increase in sales for the company.
