Bentley Mulsanne returns to Crewe
【Summary】Queen Elizabeth II's last Bentley Mulsanne, which was used for royal duties, will join Bentley's heritage fleet. The car features a solid Barnato Green exterior, Twine and Cumbrian Green interior, and Burr Walnut veneers. It also has special modifications such as a tray for the Queen's handbag, rear privacy curtains, and the UK's coat of arms inlaid in the door waistrails. The car will be part of Bentley's Heritage Collection.
A noteworthy event in itself, the final Bentley Mulsanne ever made holds even more significance as it was handbuilt at Crewe and used as transport for Queen Elizabeth II. Now retired from Royal duties, this Bentley will join the prestigious 45-car heritage fleet of the company.
It is no secret that the late Queen had a fondness for Bentleys. Some may recall another one of her Mulsannes being put up for sale on PH a couple of years ago. The color combination of the new Mulsanne is reminiscent of the old one, with its solid Barnato Green exterior and chrome brightwork, complemented by the Twine and Cumbrian Green interior and Burr Walnut veneers. Additionally, it features an Extended Wheelbase.
However, this Mulsanne is not your average dark green EWB model. It has been modified to fulfill its special duty, which includes the removal of the front center armrest to accommodate a tray for the Queen's handbag. Other modifications include rear privacy curtains and the UK's coat of arms inlaid in the door waistrails. The car is also equipped with lights, sirens, and a bullhorn, with the switches cleverly hidden beneath a walnut-veneered door behind the gear lever.
Once completed, this final Mulsanne will join Bentley's Heritage Collection, alongside the second one ever built and a later Speed model. Although there are currently no Mulsannes for sale with a similar specification, there are certainly several available that may be of interest. With over 7,000 Mulsannes produced, it is possible to purchase a Speed model for the price of an M2 or opt for an Extended Wheelbase for maximum luxury, albeit at a higher cost.
