Bentley Mulsanne returns to Crewe
【Summary】The last Bentley Mulsanne ever made, which was used by Queen Elizabeth II, is heading back to Bentley's heritage fleet. The car, in a solid Barnato Green color with chrome brightwork, features modifications such as a tray for the Queen's handbag, rear privacy curtains, and the UK's coat of arms. It will join other notable Mulsannes in Bentley's collection. Although there are no Mulsannes currently for sale in a similar spec, there are other options available at different price points.
A noteworthy event in itself, the final Bentley Mulsanne ever made holds even more significance as it was handbuilt at Crewe and served as transport for Queen Elizabeth II. Now retired from Royal duties, this Bentley will join Bentley's 45-car heritage fleet.
Queen Elizabeth II had a fondness for Bentleys, as evidenced by the previous sale of one of her Mulsannes a couple of years ago. The color combination of the new Mulsanne mirrors that of the old one, showcasing a solid Barnato Green exterior with chrome brightwork, and an interior featuring Twine and Cumbrian Green upholstery along with Burr Walnut veneers. Additionally, this model has an Extended Wheelbase.
However, this Mulsanne is not your average dark green EWB version. It has been modified for its special duty, including the removal of the front center armrest to make space for a tray to carry the Queen's handbag. Other modifications include rear privacy curtains and the UK's coat of arms inlaid in the door waistrails. It is also equipped with lights, sirens, and a bullhorn, with the switches hidden beneath a walnut-veneered door behind the gear lever.
This final Mulsanne will be part of Bentley's Heritage Collection, joining the second Mulsanne ever built and a later Speed model. Unfortunately, there are currently no Mulsannes for sale with a similar specification. However, there are several Mulsannes available that may be of interest, with more than 7,000 units produced. It is possible to purchase a Speed model for the price of an M2, or an Extended Wheelbase for maximum opulence, although the latter option will come at a higher cost.
