【Summary】Rivian's Dual-Motor models have an EPA range rating of 352 miles, Fisker provides more details about its Alaska electric pickup, and CATL improves its LFP battery technology to enhance charging and performance in cold weather.
Rivian has achieved an impressive milestone by surpassing 350 miles of range with its middle battery pack option. This is great news for electric vehicle enthusiasts who prioritize long-range capabilities.
Fisker, on the other hand, has shared more details about its upcoming electric pickup truck called the Alaska. With a price tag of $45,000, Fisker envisions this truck as their "everything" vehicle. However, they have not yet disclosed which company will manufacture it in the United States. Despite this, Fisker has released several concept photos of the Alaska, revealing its design similarities to the Ocean crossover model.
CATL, a prominent battery manufacturer from China, has made advancements in its lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology. They claim that the revised chemistry and structure of their LFP batteries offer superior charging and performance in cold weather conditions. This is significant because LFP batteries have historically struggled in low temperatures. Additionally, CATL's LFP batteries can reportedly achieve 250 miles of range in just 10 minutes of charging. It remains uncertain whether Ford will incorporate this technology into its manufacturing process in Michigan.
In terms of range, the Rivian R1T and R1S models equipped with the Dual-Motor configuration have received official EPA ratings of 352 miles. It's important to note that this range is achieved when specific wheel options are chosen. These models utilize Rivian's middle battery pack option, known as the Large Pack. This achievement suggests that the upcoming Max Pack versions will likely exceed 400 miles of range, which is incredibly impressive.
