There is also a dual-motor version with all-wheel drive. For those seeking more power, the ZDX Type S offers 500hp and a range of 288 miles.
The Acura ZDX is making a comeback, and this time it's going electric. The new design of the ZDX has surprised many, as it looks much better than expected. With its stylish grille, sleek headlights, and tri-tone paint job, the SUV is a head-turner. The ZDX is Acura's first fully electric vehicle, developed in collaboration with General Motors. It is built on GM's Ultium battery technology platform, which will also be used for an upcoming Honda SUV called the Prologue.
At launch, Acura will offer three versions of the ZDX, all equipped with a 102kWh battery pack. The base ZDX A-Spec features a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle, making it Acura's second rear-wheel-drive vehicle after the NSX supercar. This configuration is estimated to produce 340hp and offer a driving range of 325 miles. For those who prefer all-wheel drive, a dual-motor setup will be available, although the power figure for this model has not been disclosed. The all-wheel-drive ZDX's range is expected to be slightly lower at 315 miles. The A-Spec models will come with 20-inch wheels and the ability to tow up to 3,500 pounds.
If power is your priority, Acura has got you covered with the ZDX Type S. This variant comes with two motors and all-wheel drive, delivering an impressive 500hp. The Type S also features adaptive air suspension, 22-inch wheels, and Brembo brakes. Despite the increased power, the Type S still offers a respectable range of 288 miles on a full charge. The ZDX can be fast-charged at a maximum speed of 190kW, although it falls short compared to the growing number of 350kW public chargers. However, the ZDX compensates for this with its luxurious interior, including an 18-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
Acura has made some significant changes to the ZDX's multimedia interface. The previous True Touchpad system has been replaced with an 11.3-inch touchscreen that allows users to interact directly with the screen. The SUV comes with built-in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the navigation system is powered by Google Maps, which can also be displayed on the 11-inch digital gauge cluster. Acura plans to sell the new ZDX through an "omni-channel digital sales process" and expects to start customer deliveries in early 2024. The base ZDX A-Spec is expected to start around $60,000, with the Type S priced approximately $10,000 higher.
