The all-new Porsche Cayenne has arrived on UK roads, boasting a larger and more efficient design. Despite having a longer wheelbase, the new model appears smaller due to its taut body and sharper front end. As Porsche's best-selling SUV, the Cayenne brings in significant revenue for the company, allowing for the production of limited-run specials like the GT2 RS.

While the Cayenne Turbo may seem expensive and unnecessary to most buyers, a closer look reveals the extraordinary achievements of this car. It offers all the advantages of a full-size 4x4, including a comfortable ride, elevated seating position, and ample space in the back. But that's just the beginning. The Turbo is as fast as a 911 Carrera 4S in a straight line and nearly as quick through corners, despite weighing 2.1 tonnes. Additionally, there has been a 185kg weight reduction compared to the previous model, along with a 31% improvement in fuel economy thanks to stop-start technology. The styling updates both inside and out are the cherry on top.

Inside the Cayenne, drivers are greeted with a Panamera-style rising centre console, giving the feeling of sitting in an aircraft cockpit. The build quality is exceptional, with sturdy metal and stitched leather covering most surfaces. In line with Porsche's Intelligent Performance mantra, the new Cayenne weighs 185kg less than before and features standard stop-start on models with the eight-speed Tiptronic auto. This translates to a 31% improvement in fuel economy and a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions.

Under the hood, the 4.8-litre twin-turbo engine delivers the same 493bhp output as before. With the superb auto transmission, the Cayenne Turbo can go from 0-62mph in just 4.7 seconds. The car's composed nature at any speed makes it easy to lose track of how fast you're traveling. The laser-like steering allows for precise control, and the optional carbon ceramic discs provide excellent braking performance.

When it comes to handling, the Cayenne defies expectations. The Dynamic Chassis control, three-mode PASM suspension, and Torque Vectoring Plus technology allow the Cayenne to corner flatter and faster than any rival. It's like driving a sports car on stilts.

While the Range Rover may offer ultimate luxury and comfort, it can't match the Cayenne in terms of performance. The Range Rover's top-of-the-range 510bhp supercharged 5.0-litre V8 still packs a punch, but the Cayenne reigns supreme when it comes to speed and agility.
