Today, King Charles and Queen Camilla were joined by Princess Anne at the annual Braemar Gathering in the Highlands. The gathering took place near their summer residence at Balmoral in Aberdeenshire. Charles wore a new tartan called the King Charles III tartan, which was designed earlier this year to commemorate his coronation. The tartan, in green, blue, and red, was created by the Scottish Tartans Authority. Queen Camilla, dressed in an outfit by Mr Roy, accompanied Charles along with his sister, the Princess Royal, and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.

John McLeish, chair of the Scottish Tartans Authority, expressed his honor and gratitude for the creation of the King Charles III tartan. He described tartan as an iconic national cloth that evokes a sense of belonging and is beloved worldwide. Charles, as an ambassador for tartan, Highland Dress, and Highland traditions, proudly wore the new tartan for the first time at Braemar today. The tartan's introduction marks a significant moment in history and was witnessed by many at the gathering.

Traditionally, the monarch becomes the chief of the Braemar Gathering, although Charles has not yet been officially announced as such. The event holds a special place in the hearts of the royal family, as they used a photograph taken at the games last year for one of their Christmas cards. During the gathering, Charles presented trophies to the winning competitors who participated in various sports, including shot put and tug-of-war.

On September 8 last year, Queen Elizabeth II, the UK's longest-serving monarch, peacefully passed away at Balmoral in Scotland at the age of 96 after a reign of 70 years. As the first anniversary of her death approaches, Charles and Camilla are expected to privately commemorate her at their Balmoral estate.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry will return to the UK to attend a charity awards ceremony on the eve of the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's death. The ceremony, organized by WellChild, aims to celebrate the achievements and resilience of seriously ill youngsters and their families. Harry has been a patron of WellChild for 15 years and regularly attends its annual awards ceremony. However, his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, is not expected to accompany him.

The awards ceremony will take place a few days before Harry's Invictus Games, which will be held in Dusseldorf, Germany, starting on September 9 and lasting for eight days. Meghan Markle, though missing the opening ceremony, will join her husband at the Invictus Games shortly after it begins. Participants from around the world will be taking part in this inspiring sporting event.

In commemoration of Queen Elizabeth II's first anniversary of her death, OK! has released a special collector's edition titled "Queen Elizabeth II: Forever In Our Hearts." This edition reflects on her incredible life and legacy, providing insights from royal experts. It also includes rarely seen images from her remarkable reign. The magazine is available for purchase in-store or online for £9.99.

Meghan Markle will join her husband, Prince Harry, at the Invictus Games. However, she is expected to miss the opening ceremony and will fly to Europe to join Harry shortly after the event begins. The Invictus Games will bring together participants from across the globe, showcasing their strength and determination.

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex expressed their delight in attending the Invictus Games 2023 in Dusseldorf. Prince Harry will be present throughout the entirety of the games, and Meghan will join him shortly after the event commences.
