Compact Electric SUV Confirmed by Cadillac for 2025
【Summary】Cadillac has confirmed that it will be releasing a compact electric SUV called the Optiq in 2025. The vehicle will be part of Cadillac's expanding electric lineup, joining the Lyriq and Escalade IQ. While specific details are limited, the Optiq is expected to have a similar size and shape to the recently released Equinox EV. It will likely have a range of around 300 miles and offer fast-charging capabilities.
Cadillac is ramping up its electric vehicle (EV) development with the help of GM's investments in electrification. The luxury automaker has confirmed that a new gas-free model, called the Optiq, will be joining its lineup in 2025. Positioned as a compact electric SUV, the Optiq will sit below the Lyriq and flagship Escalade IQ.
Although Cadillac has not shared many details about the Optiq, an image of the upcoming EV has been provided. The design features the brand's signature vertical LED running lights and a muscular shape that resembles the larger Lyriq. The C- and D-pillars have a blacked-out style, giving the roof a floating appearance.
Thanks to General Motors' Ultium technology, the Optiq is expected to be similar in size and shape to the recently released Equinox EV. The same technologies that underpin the Lyriq, Escalade IQ, and Celestiq EVs will also be utilized in the Optiq. It is anticipated that the Optiq will offer a range estimate of around 300 miles and will come with fast-charging capabilities.
While Cadillac has not provided specific pricing or release date information for the Optiq, it has stated that the new model will serve as an entry point to the brand's electric vehicle lineup. Considering that the base Lyriq Tech trim starts at just under $59,000, it is reasonable to expect the Optiq to start in the low to mid-$50,000 range.
