Dacia closes Black Friday website
【Summary】Dacia, the budget car brand, has decided to shut down its online sales and car configurator on Black Friday, despite it being a popular day for discounted deals. The move is seen as a statement against the marketing gimmick that Black Friday has become, with 70% of Brits believing it to be just that. Dacia aims to be the UK's number one car manufacturer for value and wants consumers to "tune out of the Black Friday noise" with a radio advert playing relaxing sounds.
Dacia, known for its playful jabs at the automotive industry, is once again taking a swipe - this time at Black Friday. Surprisingly, the budget-friendly brand has announced that it will be shutting down its online sales and car configurator on the day of Black Friday.
Luke Broad, Dacia Brand Director for the UK, explained, "At Dacia, Black Friday is just a normal Friday. Shutting down our online sales for the day is a bold move, but it demonstrates our commitment to being the UK's leading car manufacturer for value."
Interestingly, it seems that the UK population shares a healthy dose of skepticism towards Black Friday, with 70% of Brits considering it a mere marketing gimmick. In response, Dacia plans to release a radio advert featuring relaxing sounds, encouraging consumers to "tune out of the Black Friday noise".
Rest assured, the Dacia online sales and configurator site will be up and running again on Saturday, November 25. However, those who were hoping to purchase a car from Dacia on Black Friday may interpret this move as the brand's own way of combatting the Black Friday marketing frenzy.
