DAF introduces Next-Gen DAF XB urban delivery vehicles

DAF Trucks has unveiled its latest New Generation DAF XB truck series, which includes a range of distribution and vocational vehicles from 7.5 to 19 tonnes GVW. The new series focuses on supporting transport companies in their transition to zero emissions, offering both battery electric and conventionally powered vehicles. The DAF XB combines low environmental impact with efficiency, safety, and comfort.

The new DAF XB series sets new standards for city and regional distribution, with tailor-made solutions available between 7.5 and 19 tonnes GVW. The trucks have the lowest carbon footprint in their class and offer exceptional efficiency, safety, and comfort. For urban distribution, there are battery electric options available in 12, 16, and 19-tonne GVW variants, with ranges of up to 350 kilometers and fast charging times of 40 to 70 minutes. DAF also provides sales support, planning advice, training, and a range of charging solutions.

The DAF XB series is equipped with powerful and efficient PACCAR PX-5 and PX-7 engines, offering outputs from 124 kW to 227 kW. These engines deliver peak torque at low engine speeds, ensuring excellent fuel efficiency. The trucks are also ready for the use of HVO, which can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90%. Safety is a priority, with the DAF XB featuring a full set of ADAS systems and outstanding direct vision. Driver comfort is also emphasized, with high-quality cabs, accessibility, and a customizable digital display.

For construction applications, DAF introduces the XBC series, which offers high ground clearance and an excellent approach angle. The XBC is designed for tough conditions and utility applications, providing durability and reliability.

The DAF XB series builds on DAF Trucks' leading position in the UK distribution sector. These trucks continue the lightweight and middleweight DAF rigid's characteristics of maneuverability, small turning circle, driver visibility, and cab comfort. Production of the new series is set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2023, offering a range of class-leading distribution trucks for urban, regional, and vocational applications.

With the introduction of the XB series, DAF completes its New Generation line-up, which includes XD, XF, XG, and XG+ trucks for various applications. DAF Trucks has been at the forefront of zero-emission road transport, offering a range of battery electric trucks and expanding its environmental credentials. The new DAF XB Electric is designed for sustainable inner-city and regional distribution operations, providing quiet and zero-emission operation with ranges of up to 350 kilometers. The trucks feature fast charging capabilities and DAF offers comprehensive support for customers transitioning to zero-emission transport.

In addition to the electric powertrain, the DAF XB series is available with highly efficient PACCAR engines and PowerLine automatic gearboxes. The trucks can be equipped with a range of factory-built bodies and offer excellent bodybuilder-friendliness. Safety is a priority, with advanced driver assistance systems and outstanding direct vision. Driver comfort is also emphasized, with spacious cabs, accessibility, and a high level of fit and finish.
