EGO's electric bike powered by cordless tools

You may be familiar with EGO POWER for their electric lawn care tools, such as mowers, string trimmers, and chain saws. However, they have now introduced something that looks like a lot more fun than their work-focused catalog - an electric mini bike. The EGO POWER+ Mini Bike utilizes their swappable lithium-ion battery packs, allowing you to use the same batteries that power your leaf blower to go flying over jumps.

It's important to note that this mini bike is not street legal, so it's best to stick to dirt trails and off-road riding areas. This is probably a good thing, considering its top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h), which would make it difficult to keep up with traffic on most roads.

Rather than commuting to work, riders are more likely to enjoy slinging dirt around with this cute little off-road bike equipped with small tires.

The mini bike is powered by a pair of 56V 7.5Ah ARC Lithium batteries from EGO, providing a maximum range of up to 18 miles (29 km) with 840 Wh of battery capacity. It offers three riding modes - Eco, Normal, and Sport, and the 18-mile range is most likely measured in Eco mode. Additionally, it includes a reverse mode, which is useful considering the size of the bike.

Although it may appear like a toy with its small proportions, the bike is well-equipped. It features full suspension and hydraulic brakes, providing a ride that handles decently for a motorcycle made from lawn mower parts.

We don't yet know the power of the rear hub motor, but reaching 28 mph (45 km/h) on something the size of a rocking horse is likely to feel incredibly fast.

There is currently no information available on the price or release date of this mini bike. EGO has only stated that it will be available "soon." Unfortunately, there are also no images available, so I can only offer you a poorly photoshopped mockup of what it might look like on a trail.

While this is not the first electric mini bike we've seen, it is the first to use lawn mower batteries as its power source. Other electric mini bikes have been designed for road use, such as Tromox's small electric motorcycles and CSC's City Slicker. Even Honda has shown interest in the market, patenting what appears to be a little electric Grom motorcycle.

An off-road mini bike like this one from EGO could be a lot of fun, especially for those who have land to explore. With swappable batteries, the 18-mile range can be extended as far as you'd like.

Just be sure not to use up all your battery packs in one go on the same day you need to mow your lawn, or you'll find yourself unable to cross that chore off your Honey-Do list.
