Electric four-door GT ushers-in new era for Jaguar.

Jaguar is preparing for its all-electric future with the introduction of a £100,000 four-door GT. Our exclusive image gives a glimpse of what to expect, showcasing a design that deviates from the brand's current lineup. The GT features a wide stance, squared-off angles, straight lines, and a prominent diffuser, all contributing to its purposeful aesthetic. The absence of Jaguar badging adds to its unique appeal. According to Adrian Mardell, the new JLR boss, there is a clear intention to take Jaguar in a fresh direction with a visual identity that captures the brand's emotion.

Under the guidance of JLR's Chief Creative Officer, Gerry McGovern, Jaguar's design team embarked on Project Renaissance. This initiative involved three teams within JLR's design studio in Gaydon, tasked with creating a family of three distinct vehicle types. After just three months, they produced 18 clay-model proposals. The image we see today represents the first interpretation of the new design language, which received unanimous approval from all stakeholders and has been described by Mardell as "jaw dropping."

While the GT is set to make its official debut in April or May 2024, several prototypes are expected to undergo road testing by the end of this year. The GT's design also provides insight into the upcoming crossovers that will complete Jaguar's lineup. Mardell emphasizes the importance of a unified visual language across the brand's vehicles, creating a cohesive family look.

Jaguar's transformation is part of JLR's Reimagine strategy, which positions the British brand alongside Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery as one of the four "brand pillars." This means there will be no direct replacements for existing Jaguar models, as the brand moves upmarket. The GT, along with the other two cars in the lineup, will be manufactured at the Solihull plant, which will also produce the all-electric Range Rover. As the most powerful Jaguar production car ever made, the GT is expected to surpass the range and charging capacity of the brand's current EV, the I-Pace. Although specific performance figures have not been released, Jaguar claims the GT will offer up to 700km (435 miles) of range and the ability to add approximately 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes of rapid charging.
