Dacia closes website for Black Friday
【Summary】Dacia, known for its budget-friendly cars, will shut down its online sales and car configurator on Black Friday, taking a stance against the marketing gimmick. The move is seen as a commitment to being the UK's top car manufacturer for value. 70% of Brits also view Black Friday as a marketing ploy. The online sales site will resume on Saturday.
Dacia, known for its playful jabs at the automotive industry, is once again taking a dig, this time at Black Friday. Despite being a budget-conscious brand, Dacia has decided to shut down its online sales and car configurator on Black Friday, rather than offering discounted deals.
Luke Broad, Dacia Brand Director for the UK, explained the decision, stating, "At Dacia, Black Friday is just a normal Friday. Shutting down our online sales for the day is a bold move, but it demonstrates our commitment to being the UK's number one car manufacturer for value."
Interestingly, Dacia's decision aligns with the skepticism many Brits have towards Black Friday. According to Dacia, 70% of the UK population believes that Black Friday is nothing more than a marketing gimmick. In an effort to help consumers "tune out of the Black Friday noise," Dacia plans to release a radio advert featuring relaxing sounds.
The Dacia online sales and configurator site will resume operations on Saturday, November 25th. Customers who were hoping to purchase a car from Dacia on Black Friday may interpret this move as the brand's own way of combatting the Black Friday marketing gimmick.
