Elon Musk's father, Errol Musk, expressed his concerns about the possibility of his billionaire son being assassinated in an interview with The U.S. Sun. He criticized a recent article in The New Yorker, referring to it as "a hit job." The 77-year-old Errol Musk specifically mentioned an article in The New Yorker that discussed Elon Musk's influence on government decisions regarding the war in Ukraine. Pentagon officials quoted in the article raised concerns about Elon Musk's attitude toward Vladimir Putin and highlighted the importance of SpaceX's Starlink satellites in the war.

Errol Musk described the New Yorker article as "the artillery-like softening up of the enemy before the actual attack." When asked if he feared that the "shadow government" could assassinate his son, he replied affirmatively. It is worth noting that Elon Musk has a strained relationship with his father and has previously referred to him as a "terrible human being."

In May of last year, Elon Musk made a comment that could be interpreted as a joke about the possibility of dying under mysterious circumstances following an argument with Russia's space chief. The billionaire has also been known to have heightened security concerns. There have been reports of bodyguards following him around the company headquarters, even to the bathroom. In fact, he requested a bathroom to be built next to his office so as not to disturb his security detail in the middle of the night.

Elon Musk's own security concerns became more apparent when his private jet was tracked in December. He reacted strongly to journalists who shared links to the @ElonJet account on Twitter, accusing them of wanting to harm him. He even temporarily barred some journalists as a result.

It is important to note that Elon Musk has not yet responded to a request for comment from Insider regarding his father's concerns about his safety.
