Ford Recruits Former Apple Executive for Software Subscription Services

Ford has announced the hiring of Peter Stern, a former Apple executive, to lead a new business unit focused on selling software-related subscription services to vehicle owners. Stern, who previously served as Apple's vice president of services, will head Ford Integrated Services, a unit that aims to integrate software and hardware into various services.

During his time at Apple, Stern was responsible for overseeing several key businesses, including Apple TV plus, iCloud storage, Apple Books, the arcade, and fitness operations. With his expertise, Ford hopes to leverage Stern's experience to enhance its software offerings and provide innovative services to its customers.

Stern officially joined Ford on Monday and will report directly to CEO Jim Farley. In his new role, he will not only oversee the development and expansion of Ford's BlueCruise hands-free partially automated driving system but also focus on improving productivity and enhancing safety and security services.

This strategic move by Ford demonstrates the company's commitment to staying at the forefront of the automotive industry's technological advancements. By investing in software-related subscription services, Ford aims to provide added value to its customers and enhance their overall driving experience.
