Ford Tourneo Custom 2023: A Fresh Look

Ford is aiming to increase the popularity of its Tourneo brand, and the latest Custom model is set to achieve just that. This vehicle cleverly disguises its van origins and can be seen as the successor to Ford's S-MAX and Galaxy models. Although the prices may be high, even the base models offer a generous amount of features and spacious cabin.

In the past, passenger-carrying versions of the Ford Transit were essentially vans with seats. However, the Tourneo brand has made efforts to change that perception. The previous generation Tourneo Custom was a step in the right direction, but the all-new model is even better, providing strong competition for the Volkswagen Caravelle and Mercedes V-Class.

The new version of the Tourneo Custom is being launched alongside the new Transit Custom, which, as previously mentioned, offers a more car-like driving experience. This is promising for the passenger variant, which will be available with up to nine seats, depending on the chosen specifications.

While there are plans for PHEV and electric versions of the Tourneo Custom in 2024, the current lineup is powered by diesel engines. In this review, we test the 168bhp version equipped with Ford's eight-speed automatic gearbox.
