FREE charging nationwide for all electric cars today

Tesla is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of its first Supercharger station in Europe by offering free charging on all electric vehicles today. This initiative is not limited to Tesla owners, as all EV owners can charge their cars for free on 29 August, from 8am to the end of the day. However, it is important to note that charging must start by 10.59pm.

The first European Supercharger station opened in Norway on 29 August 2013. Since then, the Supercharger network has expanded across 36 countries in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, with over a thousand sites and 13,000 individual Superchargers. Tesla claims that it has the largest ultra-fast charging network in Europe, with over 9,200 Superchargers and 660 stations that accept all EVs.

Tesla's one-day-only free charging initiative is part of its 'electric summer' celebrations and a token of appreciation to the Tesla community. The company acknowledges the contributions of the Tesla community in making the Supercharger network the largest, most reliable, and one of the best fast charging networks in Europe.

The Supercharger network is open to drivers of all electric cars from different manufacturers. Tesla describes this as a great opportunity to test the network and expand charging options. Over 70 percent of the network is now open to all EVs. Recently, Tesla launched its latest V4 Supercharger in the UK, which is designed for all electric vehicles with CCS compatibility. The first V4 Supercharger is located at the Tesla Centre Tottenham.

The V4 Supercharger features a three-meter charging cable and a contactless card payment terminal. Tesla specifically designed these Superchargers to enable non-Tesla owners to enjoy the 99.5 percent uptime and 250kW speeds of the Tesla Supercharger network. James Court, CEO of the Electric Vehicles Association, expressed excitement about the rollout of these new V4 Superchargers and the continued opening up of existing sites to all electric vehicles in the UK.

Decarbonisation Minister Jesse Norman praised Tesla's investment in EV charging and infrastructure, stating that it benefits all EV drivers. The UK government is committed to making it easier than ever to own an electric vehicle and has introduced new regulations to improve the ease of charging. However, private investment, like Tesla's, will ultimately make the difference.
