HS2 replaced with Dacia Sandero train

The HS2 rail link between London and Birmingham is set to be completely scrapped and replaced with a train made up of Dacia Sanderos, according to an announcement by the government. This decision is expected to significantly reduce the project's cost, potentially freeing up funds for the Phase 2 leg to Manchester. While the Sandero train will not be able to reach the high speeds initially promised by HS2, it will have exclusive access to the hard shoulder on the M1 and M6, allowing passengers to mock the traffic congestion.

The transport chiefs behind this plan hope that it will help commuters and voters forget about the originally promised journey times of 52 minutes between the two cities. The insider who revealed the decision stated that replacing HS2 with a train of Sanderos is a logical choice. The team initially laughed at the idea, but soon realized that it would solve all their problems. The project is expected to be completed under budget, without the need for extensive demolition, and maintaining a Sandero is much easier compared to a high-tech train carriage.

However, there will be no food or drinks service on the Sandero train, as the insider humorously pointed out that passengers may not be able to afford them after purchasing a ticket. When asked about the Phase 2 leg to Manchester, the insider expressed uncertainty, citing the need to address potholes in the north. They mentioned that a spare wheel for a standard Sandero costs £300, so cost calculations are still being conducted to determine the most economical option.
