Hyundai's historic partnership with Amazon

Hyundai has announced a new partnership with Amazon, making it the first car brand to sell new vehicles on the e-commerce platform. The South Korean carmaker revealed the collaboration during the LA Auto Show. Starting in the second half of next year, Hyundai will begin selling cars through Amazon's US website, and other brands are expected to follow suit. It is unclear whether this option will be available in other regions in the future.

Earlier this year, Hyundai was among the 15 brands that did not respond to a survey on agency sales. However, the company is now adopting a blended approach that combines its existing dealer network with new direct-to-customer options. The partnership with Amazon aims to revolutionize the online car-buying experience.

As part of the deal, Hyundai will integrate Amazon's voice assistant, Alexa, into its new cars starting in 2025. This integration will allow customers to search for available vehicles in their area based on various preferences, such as model, trim, color, and features. Once they have chosen their preferred car, customers can complete the purchase online using their preferred payment and financing options.
