Jaguar I-Pace retirement alongside ICE range-mates

The Jaguar I-Pace will not be included in the firm's upcoming all-electric lineup, and will be discontinued before the company's relaunch in 2025. This decision, confirmed by JLR CEO Adrian Mardell, contradicts the previous suggestion by his predecessor that the I-Pace would continue to be improved and remain on sale alongside Jaguar's new electric cars.

The specific end dates for the I-Pace and other Jaguar models have yet to be determined, as the company is waiting for a more precise launch date for the new range. However, Jaguar has announced plans to reveal its first new-era car in late 2024 and launch it in 2025, utilizing the JEA electric architecture.

Mardell stated that they do not want the I-Pace to be out of the market for too long, especially considering its electrified nature. The confidence in JEA is expected to be gained within the next two years, with a launch date projected for the first half of 2025. Mardell expressed that he would be more confident in this timeline when they are nine to twelve months away.

Currently, the I-Pace is primarily sold in the UK and mainland Europe to help the company meet emissions targets. Mardell also mentioned that the car has played a significant role in the development of other EVs within the company, as JLR has gained a better understanding of how to develop electric vehicles through the I-Pace program.

Looking ahead to the future Jaguar lineup, Mardell revealed that the goal for the reborn range is to sell 4000 cars per month, compared to just over 5000 sales per month in the first quarter of the current financial year.
