Jaguar's electric four-door GT ushers in a new era.

Jaguar is gearing up for its all-electric future with the introduction of a £100,000 four-door GT. Our exclusive image offers a glimpse into what we can expect from this exciting new vehicle. The rear image showcases a departure from the design direction seen in Jaguar's current lineup, featuring a wide stance with distinct squared-off angles. Based on clues provided by Jaguar, our artist's impressions suggest that these design elements will be combined with solid surfacing and advanced aerodynamic treatment, including a prominent diffuser to enhance the car's range. Additionally, razor-thin tail-lights will add to the overall aesthetic.

Newly appointed JLR boss Adrian Mardell expressed a clear desire to take Jaguar in a new direction with a fresh visual identity that captures the brand's emotion. To achieve this, Jaguar's team of designers presented various design options to key stakeholders. The image we see here represents the first interpretation of a new design language that was unanimously chosen by everyone involved, described by Mardell as "jaw dropping."

The rapid development process, known as Project Renaissance, was initiated by JLR's Chief Creative Officer, Gerry McGovern. Three teams within JLR's design studio in Gaydon were given a common brief to create a family of three distinct vehicle types. Within a span of just three months, these teams produced 18 clay-model proposals. It is anticipated that several prototypes of the new GT will undergo road testing by the end of the year, with an official unveiling planned for around April or May 2024. Sales are expected to begin in 2025.

Furthermore, the design of the GT provides insight into what can be expected from the two new crossovers that will complete Jaguar's lineup. Mardell emphasizes the importance of a cohesive family look across the range. As part of JLR's Reimagine strategy, Jaguar is being fully rebooted and positioned alongside Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery as one of four brand pillars. The three-car lineup, including the GT, will be manufactured at Solihull, the same plant responsible for producing the all-electric Range Rover. With its impressive power, the GT is set to become the most powerful Jaguar production car ever made, surpassing the brand's existing EV, the I-Pace, in terms of both range and charging capacity.

Although specific motor outputs and performance figures have not been released by Jaguar, the company claims that the new GT will offer up to 700km (435 miles) of range and can add approximately 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes of rapid charging.
