Oshkosh Defense has secured a significant order worth US$208 million for Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs), trailers, and associated kits for the US Army, USMC, and USAF. This order reaffirms Oshkosh's position as a leading provider of military vehicles.
In March 2023, AM General was awarded the recompete contract to manufacture JLTVs, with deliveries expected to begin in late 2024. However, Oshkosh has expressed its intention to continue manufacturing JLTVs if feasible, highlighting its commitment to meeting the demand for these vehicles.
Oshkosh has also emphasized its success in securing JLTV orders or commitments from eight international customers. In addition to supplying the US military, the company plans to make the Oshkosh JLTV available through Direct Commercial Sales. Furthermore, Oshkosh aims to produce JLTVs until the first quarter of FY2025, underscoring its dedication to meeting global demand.
George Mansfield, VP and general manager of defense programs at Oshkosh Defense, highlighted the company's decade-long commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in manufacturing. He stated, "We have invested significant resources in learning, refining processes, establishing a robust supply chain, and assembling a world-class team of experts. This has enabled us to design and produce the most reliable light tactical vehicle in the industry."
Oshkosh Defense has consistently pushed the boundaries of JLTV design. In January 2022, the company unveiled a hybrid-electric drive version called the eJLTV, showcasing its commitment to innovation and sustainability. In October 2022, Oshkosh displayed an improved JLTV variant featuring a Kongsberg Remote Weapon Station (RWS) and a side-mounted Javelin launcher, further enhancing the vehicle's capabilities.
