The Korean car brands, Kia and Hyundai, have been incredibly active in recent years, consistently releasing new models. The latest addition to their lineup is the Kia EV5, which was unveiled at the Chengdu motor show in China.

The EV5 is a compact electric SUV that features bold and chunky styling, taking inspiration from the larger seven-seat Kia EV9. It offers a more practical design compared to the sleek EV6.

While Kia has confirmed that the EV5 will be available in the Chinese market by the end of the year, there is still uncertainty about its availability in the UK. Kia has not yet released full specifications for the EV5, but it is expected to have dimensions similar to the popular mid-sized petrol-powered Sportage model. Given the Sportage's success in the UK, it would be surprising if the EV5 is not offered there.

The production version of the Kia EV5 closely resembles the concept car that was showcased earlier this year at the Shanghai Auto Show. It incorporates Kia's 'Opposites United' design language, which can also be seen in the EV9 and the latest Kia Picanto facelift. The front of the EV5 features a distinctive 'Tiger Face' grille design created using a series of LED daytime running light elements.
