Lucid Gravity electric SUV premieres at 2023 LA Auto Show
【Summary】Lucid will reveal their new luxury SUV, the Gravity, at the 2023 LA Auto Show. It will compete with other luxury electric SUVs like BMW iX and Tesla Model X. The Gravity promises supercar performance and more range than any other EV. The design will resemble the Lucid Air, with a sleek front end and distinctive headlights. The SUV will be more aerodynamic and spacious, with options for five, six, or seven-seat configurations.
The Lucid Gravity luxury SUV is set to be fully revealed on November 16th at the Los Angeles Auto Show. This new vehicle is the latest offering from the creators of the innovative Lucid Air saloon and aims to make a splash in the highly profitable electric SUV market.
When the Lucid Gravity hits the market in 2024, it will face stiff competition from established luxury electric SUVs such as the BMW iX, Mercedes EQS SUV, Tesla Model X, Lotus Eletre, as well as the upcoming Volvo EX90 and the all-electric version of the Range Rover.
In November 2022, the Silicon Valley-based EV maker released teaser images of the Lucid Gravity, giving us a decent glimpse of the vehicle and some hints about its capabilities. The company promises "supercar levels of performance" and "more range than any other EV," in addition to its sleek design.
The styling of the Lucid Gravity is reminiscent of the Lucid Air, with its distinctive front end design, 'LED Micro Array' headlights, contrasting roofline, and full-width rear light bar. The Gravity also features a windscreen that extends over the front seat passengers, with a horizontal crossbar dividing the glass roof for added support.
Despite Lucid's claim that the Gravity will be the most aerodynamic SUV ever, the pictures suggest a boxy, traditional SUV shape. However, the short overhangs at the front and rear should maximize interior space. The Gravity will be available in five, six, or seven-seat configurations, with the six-seat version offering lounge-like reclining chairs in the middle row.
The interior design of the Lucid Gravity is expected to be similar to the Lucid Air, featuring the next-generation UX infotainment software and 'Glass Cockpit' displays. The Air's setup includes a curved 34-inch 5K panel for instruments and infotainment, similar to the Porsche Taycan. The Gravity is also likely to retain the retractable screen for adjusting settings and drive modes, as well as a bank of physical shortcut buttons.
