Lucid Gravity electric SUV premieres at 2023 LA Auto Show

The highly anticipated Lucid Gravity luxury SUV is set to be fully revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show on 16 November. With the success of the Lucid Air saloon, the makers are eager to leave their mark on the lucrative electric SUV market.

When it hits the market in 2024, the Lucid Gravity will face tough competition from established luxury electric SUVs like the BMW iX, Mercedes EQS SUV, Tesla Model X, Lotus Eletre, Volvo EX90, and the all-electric version of the Range Rover, all set to launch next year.

In November 2022, the Silicon Valley-based EV maker released teaser images and provided hints about the Lucid Gravity's capabilities. Promising "supercar levels of performance" and "more range than any other EV," the Gravity's styling is reminiscent of the Lucid Air with its distinctive front end design, 'LED Micro Array' headlights, contrasting roofline, and full-width rear light bar. The windscreen design, flowing back over the front seat passengers with a horizontal crossbar, also mirrors that of the Air.

Lucid claims that the Gravity will be the "most aerodynamic SUV the world has ever seen," despite its boxy, traditional SUV shape. The short overhangs at the front and rear should maximize interior space. Available in five, six, or seven-seat configurations, the Gravity is expected to be around five meters long. The six-seat version will feature a pair of lounge-like reclining chairs in the middle row.

The interior design of the Gravity is expected to be similar to the Air's, featuring Lucid's next-generation UX infotainment software and 'Glass Cockpit' displays. The Air's setup includes a curved 34-inch 5K panel for instruments and infotainment, similar to the Porsche Taycan. It also has a retractable screen for adjusting settings and drive modes, along with physical shortcut buttons, which are likely to be carried over to the Gravity.
