Munro Vehicles' electric 4x4 debuts in production

Munro Vehicles has announced that their first all-electric 4x4 has entered production, marking the first light vehicle to be made in Scotland in over four decades.

The company has hand-built the first two Munro MK_1 customer vehicles at their East Kilbride headquarters. These vehicles are founder editions and have been designed from scratch with a focus on clean-sheet principles and long-lasting performance.

The first vehicle is a black truck with a power output of 220kW and torque of 600Nm. It offers an estimated range of 190 miles and a towing capacity of 2.5 tonnes when braked.

The second vehicle is a pick-up that has been built with ultimate performance in mind. It features a 280kW battery, a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes, and an estimated range of 190 miles.

The Munro MK_1 is an electric-powered, four-wheel-drive vehicle that combines a full-time 4x4 mechanical drivetrain with an advanced electric powertrain, resulting in zero tailpipe emissions.

One of the key features of the vehicle is its spacious rear bed, which can accommodate a payload of up to 1050kg on a Euro pallet. The performance model of the Munro MK_1 also boasts a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500kg, making it suitable for various purposes such as hauling farm implements, livestock, construction equipment, and disaster relief supplies.

The Munro MK_1 comes in utility, performance, and range variants to cater to different needs. It has a peak power output of 375kW and torque of 700Nm, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 60mph in just 4.9 seconds.

Equipped with an 82.4kWh battery, the Munro MK_1 can be rapidly recharged from 15% to 80% battery capacity in just 36 minutes using a 100kW DC charger. On a full charge, the vehicle can provide a range of over 190 miles, allowing for up to 16 hours of off-road operation on a single charge.

Munro has received more than 250 pre-orders for both the truck and pick-up models. The company is targeting sectors such as mining, construction, utilities, agriculture, and defense.

Munro CEO and co-founder Russell Peterson expressed pride in the engineering and passion that went into building these all-terrain electric vehicles, and he is excited to share them with the world.
