New electric bike powered by EGO's power tool batteries

EGO POWER, known for their electric lawn care tools, is now introducing something more exciting - an electric mini bike. The EGO POWER+ Mini Bike utilizes the company's interchangeable lithium-ion battery packs, allowing users to experience the thrill of riding with the same batteries that power their leaf blowers.

However, it's important to note that this mini bike is not street legal and should only be used on dirt trails and off-road areas. With a top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h), it would be difficult to keep up with traffic on most roads.

Rather than using it for commuting, riders are more likely to enjoy slinging dirt around with its cute little off-road tires.

The mini bike is equipped with a pair of 56V 7.5Ah ARC Lithium batteries from EGO, providing a maximum range of up to 18 miles (29 km) with 840 Wh of battery capacity. It offers three riding modes - Eco, Normal, and Sport - with the 18-mile range most likely achieved in Eco mode. Additionally, it features a reverse mode, which is useful given its size.

Despite its toy-like appearance, the mini bike seems to be well-equipped. It boasts full suspension and hydraulic brakes, ensuring a decent ride for a motorcycle made from lawn mower parts.

While the power of the rear hub motor is still unknown, reaching 28 mph (45 km/h) on something the size of a rocking horse is undoubtedly thrilling.

The price and availability of this mini bike have yet to be announced. Limited information and images are currently available, leaving room for speculation. However, it is expected to be released "soon" according to EGO.

Although this electric mini bike is not the first of its kind, it stands out for its use of lawn mower batteries as a power source. Other electric mini bikes on the market have primarily been designed for road use, such as Tromox's small electric motorcycles and CSC's City Slicker. Even Honda has shown interest in the market, patenting a little electric Grom motorcycle.

An off-road mini bike like the EGO offers a great opportunity for fun, especially for those with land to explore. With swappable batteries, the 18-mile range can be extended to suit your needs.

Just be sure not to use up all your battery packs on the same day you need to mow your lawn, or you'll have one task left unfinished on your Honey-Do list.
