DAF Trucks has unveiled the latest addition to its New Generation series, the DAF XB truck series. This new model range includes a wide range of distribution and vocational vehicles with gross vehicle weights (GVW) ranging from 7.5 to 19 tonnes. The focus of the XB series is to support transport companies in their transition to zero emissions, offering both battery electric and conventionally powered vehicles that combine low environmental impact with efficiency, safety, and comfort.

The DAF XB series sets new standards for city and regional distribution, providing tailor-made solutions for various applications. The range includes battery electric vehicles with zero emissions for urban distribution, offering 12-, 16-, and 19-tonne GVW variants with ranges of up to 350 kilometers. These electric vehicles can be charged from 20 to 80% in just 40 to 70 minutes. DAF also offers dedicated sales support, planning advice, training, and a range of charging solutions to assist customers in their transition to electric vehicles.

In addition to electric vehicles, the DAF XB series is equipped with powerful and efficient PACCAR PX-5 and PX-7 engines, ranging from 124 kW (170 hp) to 227 kW (310 hp). These engines offer excellent fuel efficiency and peak torque at low engine speeds. The XB series also meets high safety standards, with a full set of advanced driver assistance systems and outstanding direct vision. The driver's comfort is also prioritized, with high-quality cabs, exceptional accessibility, and a customizable digital display.

For construction applications, DAF introduces the XBC series, which features a high ground clearance of 255mm and an excellent approach angle of 25 degrees. This series is designed to excel in challenging terrains and is suitable for a wide range of utility applications.

The DAF XB series builds upon DAF Trucks' leading position in the UK distribution sector between 7.5 and 18 tonnes GVW. The lightweight and middleweight DAF rigid models are known for their outstanding maneuverability, small turning circle, driver visibility, and cab comfort. The XB series represents a new class-leading range of distribution trucks that offer tailor-made solutions for urban and regional applications.

With the introduction of the XB series, DAF completes its New Generation line-up, which includes the XD, XF, XG, and XG+ trucks for various applications. The XB series, including the XBC construction model, will enter production in the fourth quarter of 2023. DAF's extensive product range, combined with its commitment to environmental leadership, ensures that the XB series is ready for the future of sustainable and livable cities.

DAF Trucks continues to expand its zero-emission product offering with the new DAF XB Electric. This electric truck is specifically designed for sustainable inner-city and regional distribution operations. It is available in 16- and 19-tonne GVW models, as well as a 12-tonne model with 17.5-inch wheels and a single entry-step. The XB Electric is powered by an e-motor that provides either 120 or 190 kW of nominal power, depending on the specification. It is equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) high energy-density battery packs, allowing for ranges of up to 350 kilometers of ultra-quiet, zero-emission operation.

The DAF XB Electric features a Combined Charging System, which enables rapid charging of the batteries from 20% to 80% in just 40 to 70 minutes. DAF also offers a comprehensive range of PACCAR charging solutions, route planning advice, and driver training to support customers in their transition to zero-emission road transport.

In addition to electric powertrains, the new DAF XB is available with PACCAR PX-5 and PX-7 engines, offering outputs from 124 kW (170 hp) to 227 kW (310 hp). These engines provide excellent fuel efficiency and peak torque at low engine speeds. The XB series is also equipped with PowerLine automatic gearboxes, ensuring smooth shifts and outstanding comfort and driveability.

The new DAF XB is offered with a range of factory-built bodies, including PACCAR Box, Aerobody, and Curtainside options. The chassis of the XB series is designed to be bodybuilder-friendly, with pre-defined chassis layouts and repositioned fuel tanks, exhaust systems, batteries, and air tanks. This allows for easy customization and ensures the best vehicle configuration for each job.

When it comes to safety, the new DAF XB distribution truck is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems, including Drive-off Assist, DAF Side & Turn Assist, rear-view camera, speed limit recognition, tyre pressure monitoring system, DAF drowsiness detector, and alcohol interlock installation. The XB series also offers outstanding direct vision, thanks to its low cab positioning, large windscreen, and side windows.

Driver comfort is a priority in the new DAF XB series, with Day, Extended Day, and Sleeper Cabs that provide excellent accessibility and feature comfortable seats with soft-woven upholstery. The cabins also include a 12-inch digital display on the dashboard, allowing drivers to easily access all vehicle-related information. The XB series offers exceptional maneuverability and a small turning circle, making it highly agile in urban road networks.

In addition to the on-road XB series, DAF introduces the XBC series for construction and utility applications. The XBC series features a high ground clearance, a large approach angle, and a sturdy bumper to withstand tough conditions.
