Rescuing Child from Pakistan Cable Car in Darkness

In a remarkable display of bravery, local residents in northern Pakistan rescued a child from a cable car, ultimately saving all eight passengers. The incident occurred when one of the cables snapped while the chairlift was transporting six children and two adults to school in Battagram. The passengers were left hanging 1,200 meters above a ravine, fearing for their lives.

As night fell, two children were rescued by helicopter, but the air rescue had to be called off. Undeterred, locals persevered in their rescue efforts, using a makeshift chairlift to bring the remaining passengers to safety. The rescue operation was complex and required the selflessness and determination of armed forces personnel, administration officials, and local residents.

Senator Sarfraz Bugti expressed gratitude to Allah for the successful conclusion of the rescue process and commended the efforts of all involved. The UK's high commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, also expressed relief that everyone involved in the cable car incident was safely back on the ground and extended her thanks to those who worked tirelessly to make it happen.

A video clip captured the heart-stopping moment when the first child was rescued. Dangling from the helicopter, the child held onto a safety rope while strapped in a harness, suspended thousands of feet above the ground. Among the passengers were six schoolchildren between the ages of 10 and 16. Gulfaraz, who was also on the chairlift, reported that the first wire broke at 7am and another wire broke soon after. He pleaded for help, highlighting the lack of drinking water in the chairlift.

One passenger, a 16-year-old with a heart condition, had been unconscious for three hours. The rescue operation was a testament to the bravery and determination of the local community, as well as the coordinated efforts of various agencies. The successful rescue of all eight passengers from the cable car in darkness serves as a reminder of the power of human compassion and the strength of community spirit.
