Ruf CTR 3 Evo: A Tuner's Powerhouse
【Summary】German tuner Ruf has unveiled its most powerful car yet, the CTR 3 Evo. Based on the Porsche Cayman-based CTR 3 Clubsport, it features a mid-mounted 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine generating 789bhp and 730lb ft of torque. The body is made from a Kevlar-composite for lightweight and strength. Pricing starts at over $725,000, making it more expensive than competitors like the Porsche 911 GT3 and Ferrari SF90.
Ruf, the German manufacturer and Porsche tuning specialist, has recently unveiled its most powerful car to date - the CTR 3 Evo. This impressive vehicle was revealed at Monterey Car Week and represents a complete redesign and significant upgrade from the Porsche Cayman-based CTR 3 Clubsport.
Under the hood, the CTR 3 Evo is equipped with a mid-mounted 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat six engine, producing an impressive 789bhp and 730lb ft of torque. This is 23bhp and 8lb ft more than its Clubsport counterpart. The maximum power is achieved at 7100rpm, while the maximum torque is deployed at 4000rpm.
While the car pictured is fitted with Ruf's seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, it is worth noting that the Clubsport also offers a six-speed manual option. Therefore, it is possible that the Evo may also become available with this choice.
The body of the CTR 3 Evo is constructed using a Kevlar-composite material, similar to the one used in the Koenigsegg Agera RS. This material is renowned for its lightweight properties, strength, and heat resistance.
Although the exact top speed and 0-62mph time have not been disclosed yet, it is expected that the Evo will outperform the Clubsport, which can reach a top speed of 236mph and accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.2 seconds.
In addition to engine tuning, the CTR 3 Evo features several other upgrades. These include modifications to the MacPherson-strut front suspension, a multi-link rear suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes, and a track-ready dry-sump lubrication system similar to those found in the Ferrari 488 GTB and Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
Inside the cabin, the CTR 3 Evo boasts one-piece body-hugging sports seats made from carbon fiber and upholstered in Alcantara, with contrasting yellow stitching.
Interested customers will have the opportunity to order the CTR 3 Evo at a cost exceeding $725,000 (£570,466). This price tag makes it more expensive than the Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 and the similarly potent Ferrari SF90, both of which occupy a similar market position.
