Ruf CTR 3 Evo: The Ultimate Tuner Power
【Summary】German tuner Ruf has unveiled its most powerful car yet, the CTR 3 Evo. The mid-engine sports car is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine producing 789 bhp and 730 lb-ft of torque. The body is made from a lightweight Kevlar-composite material, and it features upgraded suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes, and a track-ready lubrication system. The CTR 3 Evo is expected to be faster than its predecessor, with a top speed of over 236 mph.
German manufacturer and Porsche tuning specialist Ruf has introduced its most powerful car to date, the CTR 3 Evo. This new model was unveiled at Monterey Car Week and represents a complete redesign and significant upgrade from the Porsche Cayman-based CTR 3 Clubsport.
The CTR 3 Evo is equipped with a mid-mounted 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat six engine, delivering an impressive 789bhp and 730lb ft of torque. This is an increase of 23bhp and 8lb ft compared to the Clubsport. The maximum power is achieved at 7100rpm, while the maximum torque is deployed at 4000rpm.
While the car pictured features Ruf's seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, there is also the possibility of offering a six-speed manual option, as seen in the Clubsport.
The body of the CTR 3 Evo is constructed using a Kevlar-composite material, similar to the lightweight and strong properties of the Koenigsegg Agera RS. This material provides both strength and heat resistance.
Although the top speed and 0-62mph time have not been disclosed yet, it is expected that the Evo will outperform the Clubsport. The Clubsport is capable of reaching a top speed of 236mph and achieving 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds.
In addition to engine tuning, the CTR 3 Evo features modifications to the MacPherson-strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension. It is also equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes and a track-ready dry-sump lubrication system, similar to those used in the Ferrari 488 GTB and Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
Inside the CTR 3 Evo, the one-piece body-hugging sports seats are made from carbon fiber and upholstered in Alcantara, with contrasting yellow stitching.
Customers interested in purchasing the CTR 3 Evo can expect a price tag of over $725,000 (£570,466). This makes it more expensive than the Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 and the Ferrari SF90, both of which occupy a similar position in terms of performance.
