Tesla Cybertruck winter testing New Zealand

Tesla has recently been conducting extensive testing on its upcoming steel-bodied Cybertruck, with some of the testing taking place in New Zealand, a popular location for winter testing.

Recently, there have been sightings of up to five Cybertrucks at the test site, which is a significant increase compared to the previous sightings of only two Cybertrucks. These sightings were made possible by pictures shared on Twitter by a Cybertruck enthusiast in New Zealand.

One of the shared pictures shows three steel-bodied Cybertrucks parked next to a shed, with the tailgate of one of the trucks marked as "Cybr-ute." In other pictures, the camouflaged test units were also spotted, bringing the total count to at least five units on site. Additionally, all the trucks had triangular rear side mirrors, which are expected in the production version of the Cybertruck.

Fans of the Cybertruck found the increase in the number of trucks quite amusing, with one person commenting, "They've been sneaking them in." The sightings in New Zealand provide a timeline of the testing process, with the first Cybertruck being seen at the winter test site in June.

Further pictures revealed the opening of the frunk (front trunk) of one of the units, showing some of the internal components. Although it is unclear what these components are, it is evident that the frunk extends across a significant portion of the Cybertruck's width. The size of the Cybertruck also makes the surrounding vehicles appear smaller in comparison.

The winter testing for Tesla vehicles takes place at the Southern Hemisphere Proving Grounds (SHPG) in the South Island of New Zealand. This testing is happening just before the Cybertruck is expected to go into production later this quarter. The large number of vehicles undergoing winter testing indicates Tesla's commitment to ensuring the Cybertruck performs well in all terrains.

This extensive testing provides a vote of confidence in the product for the hundreds of thousands of reservation holders who will be eagerly awaiting its release in the coming years.
