Tesla Mexico Gigafactory construction imminent

Earlier this week, Governor Samuel Garcia Sepulveda of Nuevo León met with several Tesla executives who are overseeing the buildout of Gigafactory Mexico.

The Governor recently shared updates on the progress of Tesla Giga Mexico through Instagram. He stated that access and mobility works for Gigafactory Mexico will begin soon.

According to Gov. Sepulveda, Tesla executives are pleased because they will already have direct flights from their gigafactories in Austin and San Francisco when they come to settle in Mexico. He also mentioned that he is about to receive the start-up of the Gigafactory from Tesla. The Governor emphasized that they will start with water treatment and adaptations, as well as access to the highway, to ensure smooth operations.

The progress on Giga Mexico's construction is positive news for Tesla, especially after Chinese suppliers hinted at a potential delay in production start. A Mexican newspaper reported that Tesla's estimates for the start of production at Giga Mexico might be delayed due to the country's permitting process.

However, Gov. Sepulveda's recent updates suggest that Tesla's plans for Giga Mexico are on track. He welcomed Tesla executives into his home, including Market Director in Mexico Eugenio Grandio de la Torre, Director of Business Rohan Patel, and Logistics Manager of Tesla Daniel Calvo. The Secretary of Economy Ivan Rivas and Undersecretary of Investment Emmanuel Loo also met with the Tesla executives at the Governor's house.

The Governor estimates that Tesla and the suppliers for Gigafactory Mexico could generate $15 billion in investment within two years of operations. He emphasized the significant impact this investment would have in a short period of time.
