Tesla Unveils Enhanced Powerwall 3
【Summary】Tesla has launched the Powerwall 3, a new energy storage device with a bigger output. It comes with its own solar inverter and can handle up to six solar inputs. The Powerwall 3 has a maximum power of 11.5 kW, up from the previous models, and can store 13.5 kWh. Although Tesla claims it is not available yet, some customers have already received it. CEO Elon Musk confirmed that the Powerwall 3 is optimized for ease of installation and high power.
The new Powerwall, known as the Powerwall 3, is now available on Tesla's website. This energy storage device offers a solution for those concerned about power outages. Despite the website stating that the product won't be available until 2024, some customers have already received it.
Tesla describes the Powerwall 3 as a fully integrated solar and battery system, equipped with its own solar inverter. It can handle up to six solar inputs and has a maximum power output of 11.5 kW, whether it's connected to the grid or during a power outage. This is an improvement from the Powerwall 2's 10 kW peak and the Powerwall+'s 9.6 kW maximum during grid outages.
The dimensions of the new Powerwall are 43.25 inches tall, 24 inches wide, and 7.6 inches thick. While it takes up a slightly smaller footprint than the second-generation Powerwall, it is about two inches thicker. Despite the increase in physical volume, it can store the same amount of energy as the Powerwall 2, which is 13.5 kWh.
Interestingly, Tesla's website states that the Powerwall 3 will be released in 2024. Currently, interested parties can only sign up for updates and there is no option to purchase or order the Powerwall 3. However, some keen-eyed Tesla fans noticed that a few customers had already received the Powerwall 3 on September 8th.
In response to a tweet about the Powerwall 3, CEO Elon Musk confirmed that it is optimized for easy installation and high power. He mentioned that a single Powerwall can serve as an uninterruptible power supply for most homes. Pricing for the Powerwall 3 has not been announced yet, but the Powerwall 2 is priced at $8,700, so it is expected that the new generation will be at least that much.
