Tesla's unconventional Cybertruck camouflage

Tesla is set to unveil its highly anticipated Cybertruck electric pickup in September. However, the futuristic vehicle has already been spotted in public, despite attempts to disguise it.

Earlier this month, a broken-down Cybertruck was seen poorly hidden under a Ford F-150 wrap. Now, the Cybertruck has been spotted disguised as a Toyota Tundra. So, what's the reason behind these disguises?

Previously, the Cybertruck was seen in camouflage wrap, but Tesla seems to have realized that military camo is not the most effective disguise in urban settings. As a result, they have started disguising the pickup as other vehicles, although nobody is fooled.

First, a broken-down Cybertruck was disguised as an F-150, and now videos have surfaced showing the vehicle impersonating a Toyota Tundra, one of the best-selling pickups in the US.

There are speculations about the purpose of these disguises. One possibility is that Tesla wants to keep the Cybertruck unnoticed in the wild until its official launch. However, the wraps do little to hide the Cybertruck's unique and unconventional design.

Another theory is that Tesla is testing these wraps with the intention of offering them to customers. The Cybertruck will only be available with its original stainless steel finish, so wraps could be the only way to customize it. While third parties are likely to launch their own products, Tesla might also consider offering its own wraps.

Alternatively, this could simply be a playful joke aimed at trolling competitors, which aligns with Elon Musk's sense of humor. Musk has criticized other pick-up designs as "boring" and has been inspired to create the Cybertruck with its science fiction influences. Wrapping the Cybertruck to resemble other vehicles may be a way of suggesting that its rivals are so ordinary and commonplace that they go unnoticed.
