Tesla's unconventional Cybertruck camouflage fails to deceive

Tesla is set to launch its highly anticipated Cybertruck electric pickup in September. However, despite efforts to keep it under wraps, the futuristic vehicle has already been spotted in public.

Earlier this month, a disguised Cybertruck was seen hidden poorly beneath a Ford F-150 wrap. Now, the Cybertruck has been spotted attempting to pass as a Toyota Tundra. So what's the reason behind these disguises?

Footage of the Cybertruck previously showed it covered in camouflage wrap. It seems that Tesla has now opted for disguising the pickup as other vehicles, although these attempts have not fooled anyone.

First, a broken-down Cybertruck was spotted masquerading as an F-150. Videos posted on the Cybertruck Owner's Club's forum now reveal the vehicle impersonating a Toyota Tundra, which happens to be one of the best-selling pickups in the US.

There is speculation as to the purpose behind these disguises. It is possible that Tesla wants to keep the Cybertruck unnoticed in the wild until its official launch. However, the wraps do little to hide the Cybertruck's unique and unconventional design.

Another possibility is that Tesla is testing these wraps with the intention of offering them to customers. The Cybertruck will only be available with its original stainless steel finish, so wraps could be the only way to customize it. While third-party wraps are likely to be available, Tesla might also be planning to offer its own.

Alternatively, this could simply be a joke aimed at trolling rival companies, which would align with Elon Musk's sense of humor. Musk, Tesla's founder and CEO, has criticized the designs of other pickups as "boring" and has been inspired to create the Cybertruck as a result. Wrapping the Cybertruck to resemble other vehicles may be a way of highlighting how ordinary and commonplace its rivals appear in comparison.
