Toyota has introduced the new Hilux GR Sport II, a performance pick-up truck that aims to capture the attention of truck enthusiasts. Despite being an unconventional concept, performance trucks have gained a significant following, and Toyota doesn't want to miss out on the fun.
The Gazoo Racing brand, known for its high-performance vehicles like the GR86, GR Yaris, and Toyota Supra, has decided to develop a variant of the Hilux pick-up truck. This decision comes as a result of the Hilux's recent success in the Dakar Rally, proving its capability and performance.
The first version of the Hilux GR Sport was released in 2022, and now Toyota has given it a revamp both inside and out. The new GR Sport II is set to go on sale in early 2024, exclusively in the double-cab bodystyle.
The exterior of the GR Sport II showcases various design enhancements. It features lightweight 17-inch alloy wheels, a black front grille with a unique mesh insert, and additional black detailing on the side steps, mirrors, and door handles. The front bumper has also been reshaped, giving the truck a more aggressive look. Additionally, a retro 'Toyota' script is displayed across the grille, along with GR Sport badges and a silver underguard.
Inside the cabin, the GR Sport II offers a more refined and subdued atmosphere compared to its predecessor. The red trim piece that used to stretch across the dashboard has been removed, and the red stitching on the seats, armrests, and handbrake has been replaced with silver. However, there are still red seat belts, GR-branded seats, and aluminum pedals to maintain the sporty feel.
With its updated design and performance-oriented features, the Hilux GR Sport II is sure to attract truck enthusiasts who are looking for a unique and capable pick-up truck experience.
