Toyota resumes operations after production halt
【Summary】Toyota is set to resume operations at all 14 of its assembly plants in Japan after a computer system failure halted production. The halt initially raised concerns of a cyberattack, but the company said it was unlikely and an investigation is underway. This is not the first time Toyota has faced production stoppages due to cyberattacks.
Toyota announced that it would resume operations at all 14 of its assembly plants in Japan on Wednesday. This comes after a computer system failure caused a halt in production the day before. Initially, production was set to restart at 12 plants and 25 lines in Japan, excluding the Miyata plant in Fukuoka Prefecture and Daihatsu Motor's plant in Kyoto. However, the company later stated that all plants would resume operations from the afternoon onward.
When Tuesday's decision to halt all production was made, concerns arose that it could be due to a cyberattack. However, Toyota stated that this was unlikely and that an investigation was underway. It is worth noting that in late February last year, the automaker experienced a similar situation when production lines came to a stop after one of its parts suppliers was targeted by a cyberattack.
