Toyota's Decision on Ending Their Top Crossover

The Toyota Venza, a quiet star in Toyota's lineup, is set to be discontinued after the 2024 model year. This news comes as Toyota unveiled the 2025 Crown Signia, leaving us with questions about where it fits into the company's lineup and mixed feelings about the Venza's departure.

Despite its impressive fuel efficiency of 40 mpg city, 37 mpg highway, and 39 mpg combined, the Venza did not achieve significant sales success. After its return, sales peaked at 61,718 units in 2021 but dropped to 33,683 units the following year. As of September this year, only 22,087 units have been sold.

However, the Venza and Crown Signia share many similarities. Both are two-row crossovers with a hybrid powertrain and standard all-wheel drive. While Toyota has not disclosed pricing for the Crown Signia, it is likely to be priced similarly to the Venza, which starts at $34,920 and goes up to $43,065 in Limited trim.

The Crown Signia, set to arrive next summer, boasts a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a matching infotainment system. It also features power front seats, a six-speaker audio system, and various driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control and lane tracing assist.

Like the Venza, the Crown Signia is built on the TNGA-K platform and equipped with a hybridized 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and on-demand all-wheel drive with a rear electric motor. However, the Crown Signia offers slightly more power with a combined output of 243 hp, compared to the Venza's 219 hp. On the downside, the Crown Signia's fuel efficiency is expected to be 36 mpg combined.
