Toyota's Japan-based vehicle manufacturing halted by computer glitch

TOKYO — Toyota's 14 auto plants in Japan have temporarily halted production as all 28 vehicle assembly lines were shut down on Tuesday. The shutdown was a result of a problem in the computer system that handles incoming auto parts, according to Toyota spokeswoman Sawako Takeda. While the automaker does not suspect a cyberattack, the exact cause of the issue is still being investigated. As of now, it remains uncertain when the assembly lines will resume operation.
