The all-new version of the Porsche Cayenne has hit UK roads, and it is larger and more efficient than its predecessor. Despite having a longer wheelbase, the new Cayenne appears smaller due to its taut body and sharper front end.

The Cayenne is Porsche's best-selling model and brings in significant revenue for the company. It allows Porsche to create limited-run specials such as the GT2 RS. The top-spec Turbo version of the Cayenne, which is the fastest 4x4 in the world, has been driven in the UK.

At first glance, the Cayenne Turbo may seem expensive, unnecessarily quick, and irrelevant to most buyers. However, a closer look reveals the extraordinary achievements of Porsche with this car. It offers all the benefits of a full-size 4x4, including a comfortable ride, elevated seating position, and ample space in the back. But that's not all; it is as fast as a 911 Carrera 4S in a straight line and nearly as quick through corners. Additionally, it has a 185kg weight saving compared to the previous model and a 31% improvement in fuel economy. The styling changes inside and out are also impressive.

The interior of the Cayenne has undergone significant changes, with a Panamera-style rising center console and a cockpit-like array of switches and toggles. The build quality is excellent, with sturdy metal and stitched leather covering most surfaces.

Porsche has made significant advancements in terms of weight reduction and efficiency with the Cayenne. It now weighs 185kg less than before, and stop-start technology is standard on models equipped with the new eight-speed Tiptronic auto. These improvements have resulted in a 31% increase in fuel economy and a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions.

The updated 4.8-liter twin-turbo engine delivers the same 493bhp output as before. With the superb automatic transmission, the Cayenne Turbo can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 4.7 seconds. The handling of the car is exceptional, with precise steering and minimal body roll. The Cayenne corners flatter and faster than any rival, thanks to Porsche's Dynamic Chassis control, three-mode PASM suspension, and Torque Vectoring Plus.

The Range Rover Supercharged is the main rival to the Cayenne. While it may not match the Porsche in terms of outright performance, the Range Rover offers superior luxury and comfort. It excels in off-road capabilities.
