Ford Motor Co.'s F-150 Lightning, like other electric vehicles being developed in Detroit, has received praise for its contribution to addressing climate change. However, it requires more energy to recharge compared to smaller vehicles. This highlights the ongoing efforts by automakers to develop sustainable transportation options.

In the United Kingdom, the Kia Sportage has emerged as the most searched used car, with over 33,970 annual Google searches. This South Korean SUV's high demand is evident in the number of searches it receives. Following closely behind are the Nissan Qashqai and Ford Fiesta, ranking second and third, respectively.

To determine the most popular used car models in the UK, a comprehensive assessment was conducted. The study focused on 29 popular car brands, considering the top five most searched-for models for each brand. This resulted in a total of 145 car models. Yearly Google search data for each model was collected and ranked, providing valuable insights into consumer preferences.

Among the car brands, Ford emerged as the most searched-for brand, followed by Audi and BMW. This ranking was determined by evaluating the number of yearly searches for the 145 models of used cars across the 29 brands. The findings shed light on the popularity of different car brands among UK consumers.

The Kia Sportage, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, not only topped the overall list but also emerged as the most Googled used car in 38 out of 58 UK cities analyzed. This includes cities such as Birmingham, Glasgow, and Liverpool, indicating its widespread popularity across the country.

The Nissan Qashqai secured the second position with 29,230 annual searches for 'used Nissan Qashqai' across the UK. This Japanese car model was particularly popular in eight cities, including Leicester, Newcastle, and Portsmouth. The inclusion of Nissan's e-POWER technology in the newest Qashqai model further enhances its appeal to environmentally conscious consumers.

Despite production of the Ford Fiesta coming to an end in July of this year, after 47 years and eight generations, it continues to be a sought-after option in the used car market. The model recorded approximately 28,380 yearly searches for 'used Ford Fiesta,' highlighting its enduring popularity among UK drivers.

As of Q4 2022, the Ford Fiesta was the most registered car on UK roads, according to data from the UK government. This further emphasizes its significance and appeal as a reliable choice in the used car market.

The BMW 1 Series secured the fourth spot, with approximately 23,640 yearly searches. This German car model, part of the BMW group, features prominently in the top five used car searches for cities such as Derby, Southampton, and Manchester, where the search term 'used BMW 1 Series' is highly popular.

Rounding off the top five is the Audi A1, attracting around 22,870 yearly searches for 'used Audi A1.' The German car company's reputation for quality, combined with the A1's compact yet premium appeal, has made it a favorite among UK drivers.

The Volvo XC40 takes the sixth place, with approximately 21,610 searches each year. This reflects the Swedish car company's ability to create a desirable compact SUV that resonates with consumers.

In seventh place is the Ford Focus, which garners 21,110 yearly searches. The Audi A3 secures the eighth spot, drawing in approximately 20,630 searches per year. The VW Golf rounds out the top ten, with 19,490 searches each year.

Finally, the Volvo XC90 completes the top ten list, attracting 17,920 searches for 'used Volvo XC90' annually. This large SUV model from the Swedish car company continues to capture the interest of many used car searchers in the UK.
