UK's popular used car models

Ford Motor Co.'s F-150 Lightning, like other electric vehicles being developed by Detroit, has received praise for its contribution to addressing climate change. However, it is worth noting that the F-150 Lightning requires more energy to recharge compared to smaller vehicles.

In the U.K., the Kia Sportage has emerged as the most searched used car, with over 33,970 Google searches per year. This high demand highlights the popularity of this South Korean SUV. The Nissan Qashqai and Ford Fiesta follow closely behind in second and third place, respectively.

A comprehensive assessment was conducted to determine the most popular used car models in the U.K. The study focused on 29 popular car brands, based on the frequency of currently registered vehicles. For each brand, the top five most searched-for models were considered, resulting in a total of 145 car models. Yearly Google search data for each model was collected and ranked.

In terms of car brands, Ford takes the lead as the most searched-for brand, followed by Audi and BMW. This information comes from a review conducted by car finance refund firm Undisclosed.co.uk, which analyzed the number of yearly searches for 145 models of used cars across 29 brands.

The Kia Sportage, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, also claims the title of the most Googled used car in 38 out of 58 U.K. cities analyzed. This includes cities like Birmingham, Glasgow, and Liverpool.

The Nissan Qashqai secures second place, with 29,230 searches for 'used Nissan Qashqai' across the U.K. each year. This Japanese car model emerges as the most searched-for used car in eight cities, including Leicester, Newcastle, and Portsmouth. The latest Qashqai model in Europe features Nissan's e-POWER technology, catering to those looking to reduce their emissions.

Claiming the third spot is the Ford Fiesta, with approximately 28,380 searches each year for the term 'used Ford Fiesta.' Despite production of this model ceasing in July of this year, after 47 years and eight generations, it continues to be a popular choice in the used car market, most likely due to its reliable nature.

As of Q4 2022, the Fiesta holds the title of the most registered car on U.K. roads, according to data from the U.K. government. The BMW 1 Series secures the fourth spot, with around 23,640 yearly searches. This German car model, part of the BMW group, appears in the top five used car searches for Derby, Southampton, and Manchester.

Coming in fifth place is the Audi A1, with approximately 22,870 yearly searches dedicated to 'used Audi A1.' The German car company's reputation for quality, combined with the A1's compact yet premium appeal, has made it a favorite among U.K. drivers.

The Volvo XC40 takes the sixth spot, with approximately 21,610 searches each year. This highlights the Swedish car company's ability to create a desirable compact SUV.

In seventh place is the Ford Focus, with 21,110 yearly searches. The Audi A3 secures the eighth spot, attracting approximately 20,630 searches per year. The VW Golf rounds out the top nine, with 19,490 searches each year.

Finally, the Volvo XC90 claims the tenth spot, drawing in 17,920 searches for 'used Volvo XC90' each year. This large SUV model from the Swedish car company continues to capture the interest of many used car searchers in the U.K.
