A review conducted by car finance refund firm Undisclosed.co.uk evaluated the number of yearly searches for 145 models of used cars across 29 brands. Ford emerged as the most searched-for car brand, followed by Audi and BMW.
The Sportage, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, is not only the most Googled used car overall but also the most searched in 38 out of 58 UK cities analyzed. This includes cities like Birmingham, Glasgow, and Liverpool.
The Nissan Qashqai takes second place with 29,230 searches per year for 'used Nissan Qashqai' across the UK. It is the most searched-for used car in eight cities, including Leicester, Newcastle, and Portsmouth. The latest Qashqai model in Europe features Nissan's e-POWER technology, appealing to those looking to reduce emissions.
Despite production ceasing in July this year, the Ford Fiesta remains a popular choice in the used car market. It ranks third with approximately 28,380 searches each year for 'used Ford Fiesta.' Its reliability is likely a contributing factor to its popularity.
In Q4 2022, the Fiesta was the most registered car on UK roads, according to data from the U.K. government. The BMW 1 Series takes the fourth spot with around 23,640 yearly searches. This German car model, part of the BMW group, appears in the top five used car searches for Derby, Southampton, and Manchester.
The Audi A1 secures fifth place with approximately 22,870 yearly searches for 'used Audi A1.' Its reputation for quality and compact yet premium appeal makes it a favorite among UK drivers.
The Volvo XC40 takes sixth place with approximately 21,610 searches each year, showcasing the Swedish car company's ability to create a desirable compact SUV.
Seventh place goes to the Ford Focus with 21,110 yearly searches. The Audi A3 follows in eighth place with approximately 20,630 searches per year, and the VW Golf secures the ninth spot with 19,490 searches annually.
Rounding out the top ten most searched for used cars is the Volvo XC90, drawing 17,920 searches for 'used Volvo XC90' each year. This large SUV model from the Swedish car company continues to capture the interest of many used car searchers in the UK.
